Don't Judge Me, We've All Been There

*Hopping from the passenger seat to the backseat of the car in a desperate attempt to not be seen in my sweatpants and knotted, messy just-crawled-out-of-bed bun by people I know, especially from high school, as my mother and I drive up to the ordering intercom at McDonald's.*

Mother: "What are you doing?"

Me: "I'm avoiding being seen."

Mother: "Someone working today that you know?"

Me: "I don't know. No gonna take any chases though. Then again, I've looked worse at school before." *exaggeratedly mocking myself*

Mother: "That's true."

Me: "Hey!!! You're supposed to stick up for me, not agree with me."

*Sadly someone I went to high school with was working the cash register and a cute guy I'd never seen before handed over our coffees in the last window of the drive-thru.*

Lesson: If you go out in public looking bad, your doomed to run into someone you know.

Characteristics of Sophie

September 17th, 2014

Dear reader,

Apparently whenever I'm sitting outside rockin' away to music and blogging that is the best time for Sophie to get my attention. She jumps up on my lap and wedges herself between me and my laptop, sometimes at the expense of my headphones being ripping away from my ears. After she gets herself positioned so that she is blocking the computer screen, she begins the merciless licking of my face.

This is one of the may examples of how Sophie reminds me of:
Rule #1 Nothing is more important than Sophie. Nothing.

When life seems overbearing...

Sometimes in life it feels like one thing after another goes wrong. It feels as if you work your butt off to recover and get your life back in order only to watch it crumble apart once. But, that's okay. You are strong. God only puts on our plate as much as he knows we can handle. You will get through this rough patch and your life will get better. I promise. Just hang in there. One day you will be able to look back and understand the lessons you needed to learn, but right now you are still learning the lessons. Keep in mind two things when you feel like you can't go any further: 1. Every storm runs out of ran. 2. Every challenge through into you'll life is there for you to learn from and grow stronger from. You can do! You can!

Humbling Thought

Inspirational Thought #1

Sometimes in life you are faced with having to eat an elephant. Whether that elephant is a major writing assignment, or a difficult responsibility you are forced to take on, or an event in your life you just don't want to deal with, you have to do it. And there is only one way to eat an elephant, one bit at a time. Sadly, our good old friend procrastination, from our rebellious teenage years, won't help. If anything the longer we procrastinate, the larger the elephant will grow and the more daunting the task will become. Instead of letting the size of the elephant frighten you, focus on each day and getting just a piece of the elephant eaten that day. Even if you only accomplish a small amount, you are one small step closer to being done than you were the day before.
